Borda's 80-Yard Goal in Championship

On Monday night, Gonzaga won their second straight WCAC title by beating Good Counsel 10-8, coming from behind in dramatic fashion at the University of Maryland. The Gonzaga program has reached a new competitive level in the past two seasons, now able to compete with anyone, and is slowly emerging as a national power.

However, none of Gonzaga's success the past two years has gotten them as much national exposure as sophomore defenseman Matt Borda's late goal in the Championship game. Borda, a Kensington native, attempted a clearing pass from just behind his own net, and with heavy traffic attacking the far goal, the ball traveled over everyone into the back of the net.

The estimated 80-yard goal has already made an appearance on ESPN's television program's, "SportsCenter" and "Around the Horn".
